Starting from July 21, 2020, we are introducing "country_of_origin" as a mandatory attribute in addition to a few optional attributes in our category listing templates in accordance with the Legal Metrology Act, 2009. You will be required to provide information for "country of origin" mandatorily for all your new and existing listings.

We urge you to provide information on the other listing attributes (including mandatory declarations required to be provided by you under applicable law) so that customers get detailed information about your product prior to purchase. Please ensure that the information added by you is accurate and updated at all times, as you will be solely responsible to ensure accuracy.

Failure to provide information in the "country of origin" attribute by August 10, 2020 may lead to enforcement action including suppression of your listing.

We are writing to inform that, in accordance with requirements under the Legal Metrology Act, 2009, we have introduced “country_of_origin” attribute in listing experiences (1x1, listing templates). This means that going forward, you are required to provide country of origin information for your product listings. Post 10th Aug 2020, providing this attribute will be a mandatory requirement for all new listings. We strongly recommend that you also update this information for all your existing listings at the earliest if not already done so.

As mentioned above, providing Country of Origin information to consumers is a requirement under legal metrology laws and the same is also a mandatory attribute to fill for new listings. Therefore, we urge you to fill these details for your existing listings too.

This is to inform you that the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules 2020 (“E-Commerce Rules”) have been implemented, which state that any seller offering goods or services through a marketplace e-commerce entity is required to provide the Country of Origin of the product to the e-commerce entity to be displayed on the website. Adhering to that, we have made “Country of Origin” a mandatory attribute for all products starting July 23, 2020. This implies that you will be required to provide the “Country of Origin” mandatorily for all your listings, i.e. new and existing.

Here is what you need to do for your new and existing listings:

New Listings: You will have to add Country of Origin to be able to list a new product.
Existing Listings: In order to stay compliant, you will have to add this attribute for all your existing listings immediately. We reserve the right to take action against existing listings without the Country of Origin effective August 15, 2020.
